I can’t believe it’s been a year since COVID-19 came into our life like a tornado. Except it’s been a year long tornado that has changed many of us forever.
I’ve thought a lot about this past year, what it’s meant for me, and for this community of patients and caregivers. I thought a lot about what is helpful to you and how Chronically Simple can play a role. And the conclusion that I’ve come back to time and time again is about making sure that this community has a way to manage their health information and keep control of one aspect of their lives. So much of what we are dealing with is out of our hands, but our health information can be, literally, in the palm of our hands.
So I’m very pleased to announce Chronically Simple has launched a vaccine passport. While this was on the roadmap for a few years, we moved it up because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But we didn’t just stick to that vaccine. All Health Canada approved vaccines are available in this feature.
Why am I so pleased about this? Because you will hold your personal health information. We are focused on easing the burden on the patient to track and manage another piece of information and appointment that is so important to our health. And as always - it will be secure on the Chronically Simple app, and it’s yours to track and share it as you feel appropriate.
When developing this, and with feedback from this community, the new feature will help patients and caregivers manage their vaccine schedules. In the case of the COVID-19 vaccine, it will ensure you don’t miss the second dose.
Remember that yellow vaccination card? The one that I’ve actually lost a few times for my 3 kids? We digitized it. Because I can’t possibly live with the fear of losing that again. So now you can manage your vaccinations, and your children’s, heck – maybe even your parents…allowing you to share the information digitally as you see fit – maybe with the school, or camps, or travel (when we can travel again – can you imagine?)
This was a really important step for Chronically Simple. We’ve been dedicated to listening to the feedback from this community, and from deeply understanding the healthcare environment…and then coming up with solutions.
I hope you try the vaccine tracker, and I hope you find it helpful. And on the off-chance you want to hear me talk about health issues that are important to me and to you, check out my new podcast – Simply Unbreakable. We get real about what it’s like to be a chronically ill patient in Canada, or a caregiver. Have ideas or feedback? You can always let me know directly.
